Technical Coaching Accreditation Policy
Recognition of Technical Coaching Competence via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Recognition of Prior Experience (RPE)
Already certified? Coaches who already hold a SG-Coach Technical Certification in a disability sport are not required to apply for this process. Applications must be submitted via the online application form.
Overview
What is the Technical Coaching Accreditation Policy?
The SDSC Technical Coaching Accreditation Policy provides experienced disability sport coaches with a structured pathway to achieve the SG-Coach Technical Certification — without completing the full standard certification programme — by recognising the qualifications and experience they have already gained.
Two distinct routes are available: Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for coaches with relevant formal qualifications, and Recognition of Prior Experience (RPE) for coaches with substantial hands-on experience in disability sport coaching.
Application Pathways
Which Route is Right for You?
Recognition of Prior Learning
For coaches with formal, accredited disability sport coaching qualifications obtained locally or overseas.

- A brief reflective summary on adaptations needed to support persons with disabilities
Recognition of Prior Experience
For coaches without formal certification but with at least 3 years of consistent, competent disability sport coaching practice. Minimum age: 21 years old.
- Documented coaching history in disability sport (duration, context, and scope — e.g. coaching logs)
- Endorsements from relevant sport organisations (e.g. National Disability Sports Associations, special needs schools)
- Evidence of technical session planning and athlete development (e.g. sample session plan, yearly planning instrument)
