Team Singapore boccia athletes wrapped up a successful campaign at the Coimbra 2025 World Boccia Cup, held in Portugal from 8 to 16 November. Toh Sze Ning earned her first individual World Cup medal, a silver, while Paralympic medallist Jeralyn Tan won a bronze medal in the Individual Female BC3 and BC1 events respectively.

Toh and her ramp assistant Chew Zi Qun blazed through the rounds, defeating World Number 6, France’s Sonia Heckel in a tie-break (6-6), Finland’s Vivi Virtanen (4-3), and Czech Republic’s Marcela Cernakova (5-1) before overcoming home favourite Joana Pereira (5-2) in the semi-finals. Pitted against World Number 9, Greece’s Dimitra Papadopoulou in the final, Toh finished 1-6 to secure a silver medal.

In the Individual Female BC1 event, Tan defeated Israel’s Bat-El Brightman-Ha’cohen (4-3), Czech Republic’s Barbora Skopalova (7-1) and Poland’s Kinga Koza (6-1) in the group stage. Edged out by South Korea’s Younha Kim (1-4) in the semi-finals, Jeralyn sealed her podium finish with a dominant 8-0 victory over Bermuda’s Yushae Andrade in the bronze medal match.

Tan said: “I’m proud of this achievement. I was nervous but overall happy with the outcome, and especially thankful for the support from the Singapore Disability Sports Council, my family and coach.”

Her coach, Yurnita Omar, added: “I’m extremely proud of Jeralyn. She’s put in so much heart and discipline, and seeing her hard work pay off is incredibly rewarding.”

This marks the Singapore’s boccia national team’s final international competition of 2025 prior to the start of the Asian Youth Para Games in December 2025, and ASEAN Para Games in January 2026.

Toh and Tan will next represent Team Singapore at the Asean Para Games.
