The Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) raised over $320,000 at the SDSC Charity Golf 2026, through a combined effort from disability sports supporters, artists and para athletes.

Held at Tanah Merah Country Club on 11 March 2026, the event gathered 170 corporate leaders and para athletes for an evening of sport and philanthropy. The programme began with a golf tournament, and culminated in a charity dinner and auction. Paralympic medallists Yip Pin Xiu and Theresa Goh flagged off golfers, while Ms Low Yen Ling, Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Trade and Industry, graced the dinner as its Guest of Honour.

The donations will be used to support SDSC’s developmental and high-performance programmes, as well as to expand access to sport for persons with disabilities in Singapore.

President of SDSC, Dr Teo-Koh Sock Miang, said: “This event is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when a community comes together. We are deeply moved by the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and partners. Seeing our para athletes alongside artists like Mr Aaron Yeo and Mr Jameson Yap, who have given so generously of their talents, made this evening truly special. Every dollar raised brings us closer to giving every person, regardless of ability, the opportunity to experience the joy and empowerment that sport brings.”

National para tenpin bowling captain Matthew David Chan took to the fairways, joining Speaker of Parliament, Mr Seah Kian Peng, and donors on the golf course. Chan most recently clinched gold at the ASEAN Para Games in Thailand in January 2026.

“I didn’t play very well but all of them were very accepting and forgiving, and they were willing to coach me as well,” shared Chan, who learnt golf from his father and brother while he was in primary school but stopped playing in his teen years.

“I think everyone was really energetic even after coming off a whole day of golf under the scorching sun, and it was really nice to see everyone so supportive of people with disabilities in sports.”

ASEAN Para Games gold medallist and boccia athlete Jovin Tan not only facilitated boccia experiences for supporters at the event, but also took to the stage to share his sporting journey — from escaping a temperamental father through his participation in sailing to thriving in boccia years later as his sport of choice.

Another highlight during the evening was a charity auction helmed by former Team Singapore vice captain for water polo and 3-time SEA Games gold medalist, Yip Ren Kai.

The auction featured a painting by mouth painter and ASEAN Para Games medalist Aaron Yeo. Formerly a hairdresser, Yeo was paralysed from the chest down after a motorcycle accident. He discovered mouth painting as a new form of expression, and found community through para table tennis. His painting, titled ‘Proud Display’, depicts a majestic peacock with its feathers fully unfurled in a brilliant display of colour and elegance. Yeo shared: “It’s an invitation to display your hidden talents to the world, no matter how insignificant you might feel they are.”

A second piece featured in the auction was a calligraphy piece featuring “和” (hé), contributed by Malaysian calligraphy master, Jameson Yap. Yap, who was introduced to the art at five years old by his grandfather, invented the “River Stroke”, and has exhibited his works around the globe. The auctioned artwork was one specially created for SDSC. Yap described his intention: ““和” (hé) contains many layers in one form – it speaks to be calm under pressure, inner peace, teamwork and mutual respect. These values strongly reflect what Paralympians and their team live everyday.”

Paralympian Toh Wei Soong, who also contributes as a board member of the SDSC, presented top donors of the event with his artworks, together with Ms Low Yen Ling.
